Poor Aero Battery Life
People using notebook computers running Windows Vista Home Premium / Ultimate with Aero turned on may find their battery life shortened.
This is because Direct X 9 is required to run all the desktop effects. Consequently, your notebooks’ graphics card is always having to work hard. Studies have shown that it can drain up to 4% more power from your battery, however many people claim that it uses up much more.
The way to claim back your wasted power is by temporarily switching to “Windows Classic” when you are using battery power. You can either do this manually by going into the control panel > appearance and customisation > change the colour scheme > windows vista basic - or you can use a program specially designed to do the job for you at the click of a button.
You can download the program from here.

If Windows its configured as standard way in a notebook, when you switch from “BALANCED” to “POWER SAVER” power plans, when you run in batteries aero is disabled automaticly… Only need to know there is more than one way to use your machine.
Windows Vista comes with Direct X 10 and if you upgrade to Windows Vista SP1, Microsoft has improved the reliability in that area! Also get your facts right. Vista is DX10/.1
Useful to me. As I am planning to buy a Vista Laptop.
My Aero battery life on my PC is increased with a lower brightness most of the time. Thanks for the joke though!
