Vista is the worst thing since the spice girls, where do i start, first off the loading time, vista takes double the time of xp to load up(if it does) the aero is still full of bugs and constantly crashes, vista uses all of your hard disk space so it can spy on you to make sure your not installing any protected content, the UAC is so annoying, why do you need administrators permission when your logged in as admin, most programs are not compatible or just don’t work, when you download files it takes about two extra minuets to copy to file to your hard disk, there are so many problems with this crap operating system. i feel sorry for the people who were dumb enough to go buy a copy at over $300, my computer is by far capable and powerful enough to run Vista so why don’t it work, Vista is microsoft trying to control what you can do with your pc don’t let them stick with XP

What I hate most about vista is the amount of harddisk space it utilises. If you installed vista a week ago, with just a dozen programs, watch the harddisk space get gobbled up. After 3 weeks I went back to XP. I have a 240gig C drive. With vista and a dozen programs I had 135 gig left. Now back on XP with the same programs I have 203gig left. Go figure? Any way that is just one of many things I hate about it.

i have no intention of buying vista for a long time but i went to a site and read the EULA and its translation by a tech lawyer and i figure they may as well have written “We at Microsoft Corporation, through the sale of Windows Vista to you, our beloved customer are hereby, irrevocably screwing you over, Thank you for buying Vista”

Everything is just so bad… I cant believe how bad… Even Firefox wont install - it just locks up. It takes me forever to find anything. Just to get a cmd window took at least 15 minutes.. I have a gig of memory in this laptop, but it isnt enough - just to run the gui. The laptop originally only had 512Meg, and I upgraded! XP is loads better than Vista - and what annoys me is how I had to pay for this piece of crap with the laptop. No option to get XP, or even (heaven forbid) linux instead.
My most hated feature is the purposeful disabling of Samba (NAS) based file sharing by default. This was done on purpose. How small minded can Microsoft be?!?
The worst thing about Vista? It makes me want a Mac.

Too Slow. Way too slow. I have seen 70% Cpu rate by just having IE7 and MSN. And If I try to unzip a rar file it is like frozen. My system is not very well but It should not be this slow.

Well I decided to upgrade..I got a copy of Vista Ultimate 32bit on my Dell 6400 (why not good work expense right?) and it has been a week now and I run a duo core 2.o G chip set and have 2meg of RAM.. “HEAVEN HELP THOSE WITH ANYTHING LESS”
Besides all the signs of a bad operating system. Inclusive of it accessing my hard-drive way too much and using like over 1/2 a gig of RAM to run my desktop..with the CPU racing from 0 to 20% at the blink of an eye It is wow-ful// (that is 0-20% just to run the desktop ?.. what’s up with that)– What encrypted chipset info are they logging “the size of my underwear..” looks to me Microsoft are still making sytems for microsoft not the end user.. Maybe that is why foreign governments are trying to stay clear of Microsoft and all its bloatware and spyware// just look at the previous (National Security Agency) NSA backdoor key fiasco with earlier microsoft systems..
I chose to upgrade my windows XP rather than do a clean install because I knew there were going to be all the obvious driver issues./. and thought yeah there will be loads of downloading new drivers anyway.,. and boy was I right./. so many programs just hit the skids, however the unusual glitches are more the worry./.
My google desktop. .just wont run even after re-installing it 3 times./. yes other programs worked after installing them like a half dozen times.. I did clear type font smoothing from every angle and it only worked after I ran Tune up utilites new aero reloaded setup then set the font again.. “dont ask me why, I swallowed a fly..”
Internet explorer 7 just keeps working, but randomly comes up with an error that it has stopped working.. even when i’m not on the net ? …
I updated the bios and every driver I thougth of from Dell.. and half the stuff had still kept failing.. the dell media function buttons were a pearler.. everything works except the visual tab always shows that the sound is up full even when you have it muted.. gotta love that.. so I ran the Dell media repair for it.. then the laptop says please re-insert vista cause it now wont boot..fun, fun, fun
Unfortunately heaps of software companies don’t have drivers for there programs or say they do but you still get loads of unexpected errors.. or you have to buy the new Vista COMPATABLE ONE THAT POSSIBLY STILL WONT WORk,,
and Vista God bless it.. gives you pop ups to tell me I dont have drivers for software I have already uninstalled because I know it doesn’t work on Vista and there are no new drivers on the Horizon for many software applications..
They seem to have hidden everything I ever found useful on XP for example xp was always so lame it never detected a hard stick or DVD in the drive so you would run the drive from the run command in XP — Now I have had to take the run command from the accessories area and make it a desktop short cut.. good to know the word logic doesn’t seem to apply in the Microsoft company..
And what about the fact it will simply drive you insane by giving you several pop ups asking is it ok to access a program. Well I disabled that.,., before I went OUT OF MY MIND., so now I get a pop up to tell me I no longer get the pop up when I first log on D’OH…
oh yes,, I think the average Mum and Dad are just going to give up — People that are coming to me asking me what I think of Vista.,., are all getting the same response .. come and see me in a months time when I have it all figured out..
So far I have had to come up with work arounds to get anything a normal person may want to use actually work..
at least I have the D: drive working again, so I can watch a movie (but dont use the windows media player becuase that still fails inexplicably for no reason.//.
I know this sounds a bit scathing but imagine Little office Joe or Jane wasting days trying to get stuff to work.. when Microsoft have Billions of dollars and what is it seven years to make a system they like more.. and the end user likes less..
I’m sure it will change ,, hey in 12 months they might even have it up to speed with LINUX,, (a system designed by a guy in his spare time.. /) — even the Chinese are running a version of LINUX these days, arent they ? ./.
PB.. Above are just a few examples of the miriad of problems I have experienced.. but I’m hanging in there.,., I’m gonna beat this beast.. who knows there might be a great book in it..Im sure “knowing how to get Vista working” would make a great title wouldnt it..// haa — dont lose your sense of humor.. because you are going to need it..

The feature i hate most about windows vista is the “Performance testing tool” which seems to shutoff features if your computer isn’t “ordained” for vista. my computer meets all the specs for aero, and because no on will work on the vista driver for it, i’m stuck with the craptacular vista basic.

try the whole thing! eats up too much space, slows EVERYTHING down, etc (not to repeat everything others previously said here). waste of money and major waste of time. all “big features” they talk about so dearly are simply pointless…
it’s definitely looks they went for regardless of what kind of preformance users get. on scale 1-10, i’d give it a -20 >]

vista is just straight up garbage. and the only reason i ended up with it is because a friend who was repairing my PC couldn’t find his copy of XP. At first glance its like OMG, Vista is beautiful its so cool, OMG SIDEBAR!! and then once you start trying to run programs and processes that you did with no trouble on XP, vista becomes some horrible monster. LOCKUP AFTER LOCKUP AFTER LOCKUP, and all those pointless alerts and verification requests. If i clicked on it, i probably want to use it, dont ask me if i want to use it. Vista is also slow as hell. Im not using great parts, but i know they should be able to run VISTA without so much hassle. Stick with XP and save yourself a world of trouble.

I dislike the overly pretty patronizing tone of the whole thing. I used to be able to WORK on my home PC. I could quickly and efficiently check things. Now I find I am constantly saying things like, “how do I get to Control Panel?” “What space is left on this memory stick–how can I find that out?” The whole Microsoft Office Suite gives me a headache. It is far too fancy. I just want to see my page or spreadsheet or whatever and a row of Menus. I don’t want pictures of things. I don’t want to give up real estate on the screen to this intrusive show-offy type of application. Anyway, my hours in hell are numbered. I am getting Vista removed and Windows 2000 back.

OK for starters Vista BLOWS!
I can’t copy a file larger than 5 gb to my ipod (30 gb video) even if there is 20 gb free. What the hell, oh and by the way Vista also corupted my ipod once. I just bought a new laptop and I had to UPGRADE to XP from Vista. It was well worth it, stay clear of Vista at all costs.

It’s not the crashes per se that are frustrating - it’s how random they are. Sometimes I will start my PC and ZoneAlarm will not load. Restart and it will. Same with Firefox. Control Panel has been rendered utterly bewildering - when it will open at all. (I tried it just now - no luck.) Freezing at startup. Refusal to shut down. It just goes on and on. It’s telling that MSCONFIG is now one of my most-used programs. I know XP wasn’t perfect when it was released, but I don’t remember it being as bad as this.

I hate the recovery thing of vista. It saves everything that happens on the pc like updates in to recovery points which takes a HUGE chunk of the C drive. Thats probably why all people say that vista takes half their system drive. Unfortunately, there is not a way that you can control the amount of disk space used for recovery.

I’m a computer technician who does onsite troubleshooting and configuration. I have never heard so many people tell me that their next computer is going to be a Mac - and this is from people who have been caught in the bog that is Vista and from people who have watched the Vista horror unfold for their friends and family. Everyday in every way I stick it to Vista - I take greart delight in advising people not to buy Vista machines and I advise those who have it already to ditch it. The sheer number of problems I am called in to sweep up after Vista is keeping me busy. I have seen small businesses pushed to the brink because of it’s problems. I am disgusted and shocked at this polished turd called Vista that barely qualifies to be called beta software. Death to Vista and death to the micro-mediocrities who foisted this disaster on us!
I don’t like vista (so much I don’t capitalize it) because it crashes about once a day in every couple of hours I use it.
I love the way Vista forgets the printer drivers are already loaded and reloads them again when I plug the HP printer into my HP lap top. It usually does this when I am in a hurry and need to print something quickly. I now have 3 copies of the same printer loaded. Thats only because I delete the extras every week or so. I can’t wait to get a new Mac. I will never buy another microsoft system.
Thank God I am too poor to jump onto every new product the moment it comes on market. I am soooooo happy that I’m “behind the times” by still having winXP! First time I’ve ever said that
I’m actually tormenting folks by saying “hahhhh!!! I still have XP!” and they’re genuinely envious of that! New feeling…. : |
But even if I’d been able to afford the new stuff, I already had learned from my computer technician brother, NEVER EVER jump on anything from Microsoft for at least a year, give ‘em time to fix all the bugs that come with every much-too-prematurely launched new system, advice I religiously follow as he makes his money from troubleshooting the problems people experience with MS programs.
So even if I’d been a millionaire, I’d still have been using XP for a year more, though after seeing all the really horrible reviews of Vista here, I’ve decided to wait 3 years and pray that Vista dies a horrible molten silicon death before then, and they go back to XP.
1. Why do we have to have Vista forced on us
they had it right with XP
2. Why does Vista keep asking for my permission
to do absolutely anything. people are not stupid
like Microflop think
3. What is the point of a friggin sidebar, completely
poinless
4. Vista Defrag give no indication of how far it has got
when it defrags your disk(s), so how do you
know if it is doing anything ?
5. Many people I have sold too, insist that they DO NOT
want Vista, and have to get me to get the
downgrade to XP rights for them
6. Vista stinks its awful and horrid and the writers
should ahve had their testicles boiled in hot oil
and their eyeballs gouged out with something
sharp !
7. Give people a real choice of having XP OR Vista
do not replace XP, keep it as an alternative.
8. Why is Vista desperately slow on a Celeron
laptop - and I mean DESPERATELY XP is not.
9 Most of my customers buy and OEM XP SP2 disk
when they buy a new machine.
10 When will Microflop realise just what an abortion
Vista really is.
If you don’t like Vista and no one does, Office 2007 is about as bad. Hard to find, hard to use, useless (for most people) commands and icons.
It is the most frustrating piece of work, I have encountered in 10 years. It is the arrogance of MS that is so irratating.
Most hated top 10
10-Firewall Pathetic
9-Bootup time is slow
8-When bootup is done, screen hangs for a full minute
7-Activation Fiasco is frustrating(asked for Activation Key after already activated for 4 months)
6-Control Panel is a jumbled mess
5-Gadgets Suck
2-Event Log manager is too many bells and wistles and not enough needed information.
3-All connections are buggy and some impossible
-Cisco client
-Remote connections
-VPN
-Simple File Sharing and Mapped drives
-Etc….
2-UAC is completely rediculous
And the number 1 most hated for me is….
1-Explorer
-it’s absoultly horendous, everything about it
-probably the most annoying is the relentless hierarchal stubborness. right click on Explore from the start bar. WHY IS THE CONTEXT A GAZILLION LEVELS DEEP. Give me the C drive at least!!!!
Microsoft says… “Explorer always opens within the context of the mouse click”. Brilliant.
Oh…and Search makes me puke every time.
i hate vista so much. The constant freezing and how slow it is. i often find myself wanting to punch the laptop screen or chucking it as far as i can
I only sent this message because: Guess what? My CPU is overloaded.
I only sent this message because: Guess what? My CPU is overloaded.
If that does not put it out, I’m using Windows Vista Home Basic when I should be using Home-Premium+

My frustration with this POS is getting bigger and bigger. Aside from it being a horrible piece of software, period, I can’t believe how you can conduct serious work with it. I opened up a folder today and saw 12 files. Yet, when I right click on the folder and click Properties, it shows I have 14 (urrgghh). HOW the heck are there 14 when I only see 12. YES, HIDDEN files are displayed and counted.
I’m slowly switching to Linux (openSuse 11) at work and running Vista via VMWare to work on SharePoint. I am seriously considering a Mac laptop to replace my aging one, and no more Windows.
What is up with this “windows has blocked some start up programs”?! Vista won’t run the update manager that came with one of it’s OWN COMPONENTS!!! Vista is incompatible with ITSELF! How the hell does this happen? How do they let it out the door like that? Every-F*&$ing-Time I boot up, I have to click on the blocked update manager and go through THREE different menus too run it manually. I can not delete the damn thing, and I can not just ignore it, because Vista will remind me that it’s blocking the program every 3 minutes. This is probably my 2nd most hated “feature” of Vista, it has to tell me all the time that it’s doing it’s job. If I constantly called my boss every few minutes to tell her that I’m doing my job, I wouldn’t have a job for long. What moron at Micro-limp thought that we wanted to have these constant interuptions? I need to do my work, not respond to pointless sh!t from Vista.
Vista has turned me as mad as The Joker in TDK.
Ever since I bought my new laptop (with Vista Home Premium included), the laptop has had viruses attacked it and has crashed on me every time I try to open a program like AVG AntiVirus.
My laptop runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo, CPU 2.0GHz with 4GB of DDR RAM and 160 GB of HD space. I haven’t installed any ‘outside’ programs except for AVG but the fukking thing keeps on crashing on me.
I also noticed that something in Vista is eating up 88 GB of space?? WTF??!!
I’m switching to XP.
Full stop.
I’m at my wits end, sick to death of having to deal with Windows Vista. What a pain in the butt! It’s very hard to teach myself how to use it after many happy years using previous Windows OSs. Right now I’m trying to copy pictures from several events to a DVD. It won’t let me. It will only let me copy one set at a time. Vista then burns them to the disc with no opportunity to add more pictures before the actual burning takes place. Why? Because Microsoft designers are total MORONS. They have taken what used to be quite simple and intuitive and made it difficult, complicated, or just plain impossible.
Macintosh, Here I come. Microsoft, you’re FIRED!
Oh, and did I mention, my wife and I are the parents of 12 children. The oldest is about to begin college. I will make sure to teach them all the hazards of Vista and that they should never do business with Microsoft. They have grown up mostly with XP, but they will soon be doing their homework on Macs because as the 4 computers in the house die off, I’ll replace them with Macs. Microsoft, you have not just lost a customer, you have lost a large generation of future users.
why did they allow such a piece of crap program to be submitted to the public, it had the same crappy features as the last version, same crappy applications, that take up alot more space. the whole thing is slow, updating itself without your consent, it just starts updating while you are doing anything blocking what your doing so it can update. I hate Vista so much, I miss 98, it seemed to work most of the time but was still crap, but better than the new crap.
3 words:
Install Device Driver
.
the amount of times these words have screwed me over via vista is uncountable… they had it right up to XP!
So, two months ago I finally get my own laptop, which comes (surprise surprise) with vista. From the get-go there are issues - before I’d even put any programmes onto it or anything, it had a tendency to suddenly shut down without warning, but I overlooked that.
The bigger issues started when I tried to put any programmes on it at all - ones that ran absolutely perfectly on the XP desktop I used to use would not install, or would not work once installed - I cannot count how many manual installs I’ve had to do because the automatic one wouldn’t run. Checking for solutions online, I found out that countless other vista users had had exactly the same problem as me.
Of the programmes I tried to install, it wasn’t just games which had issues (and, by the way, ones from 2001 wouldn’t work, /and/ ones from 2008 wouldn’t work, even though, in theory, the computer had all the drivers etc necessary to run them. And no, compatability mode did /not/ help.), the one I had the most trouble with was photoshop. As a graphic design student, the fact that this wouldn’t install was not only annoying, it was actually a hindrance to my course, forcing me to go back to the very old and very slow desktop which could actually run it.
However, this was not the apex of vista’s idiocy; no, yesterday as I was running the internet and a notepad document, it went to the blue screen of death and then shut itself down. Permanently. I have spent almost twelve hours attempting to get it to actually boot up - at which point it tells me it needs the install disc. Which, as the laptop was purchased with vista pre-installed, I do not have.
So, that’s all my recent documents I haven’t backed up, and possibly my entire laptop gone. I have been using XP on laptops and desktops for years, and not once have I had any serious error; I use vista for two months, and my laptop dies on me.
Thank you so much Microsoft. I really appreciate this.
